Four Pillars of Destiny or BaZi

Oprah Winfrey has famously said, “I believe luck is preparation meeting opportunity. If you hadn’t been prepared when the opportunity came along, you wouldn’t have been ‘lucky.'”

BaZi translated from Chinese means “eight characters.” The reading is based on your birthday and includes four components which divide into a Year, Month, Day and Hour of birth. These four components are also called the Four Pillars. Each Pillar is made of two parts, a top (Heavenly Stem) and a bottom (Earthly Branch), thus we have eight characters all together. Sometimes called a Natal chart, it is essentially a BaZi. This is also known as the Four Pillars of Destiny. This system of knowledge relies on the Chinese foundational concept of the principles of Yin (feminine/emotional) and Yang (masculine/rational) and the five symbolic elements Earth, Water, Fire, Metal and Wood. And these are used to explain the energies within a person’s personality and their Destiny or Life Path. Understanding how these eight characters interact is truly fascinating and gives us a glimpse of a person’s prescribed fate.

It is said there are Three Lucks. The energy of what you are given at birth is one third of what composes your life: it is called the Heaven’s Luck. This is simply your fortune given to you by the heavens. There are two other Lucks: Human’s Luck (created by your own choices and efforts) and Earth’s Luck (the environment and natural surroundings), which is where Feng Shui comes into play. By analyzing the BaZi and Feng Shui together, a person’s opportunities have the potential to be increased.

With BaZi or Four Pillars of Destiny, you can learn about energies present during your birth, which are explained in the chart analysis. Usually, a person has an emphasis on particular questions. Some examples include, When is a good time to move or change jobs? When might I have the opportunity to find a mate or partner? It is interesting to evaluate how these energies can have an impact during your life. We can look at historical events to help understand what might be coming in the future. People all over the world anxiously await news about the coming year’s energy and value the information as a way to provide some clarity on how to navigate their Life Path.

Ultimately, this is not fortune telling or a psychic reading. A BaZi analysis gives you understanding on how to increase the chances of opportunity and limiting obstacles keeping you from achieving your goals. So, you can see how this works nicely with Feng Shui!

A BaZi analysis coupled with Feng Shui can help you navigate the flow of life smoother. As one client said, this is a great way to help “…surf the chaos instead of wiping out!”

This is a wonderful resource for enhancing a person’s self-awareness. In fact, it can be particularly helpful in being more compassionate in a relationship because you will have an appreciation for a person’s inherent energetic elemental balance. Every person’s combination of characters is unique; as individual to you as your fingerprint!

Auspicious Date Selection:

Many factors are involved with achieving a desired outcome – being in the right place at the right time is helpful! Choosing to take action with the supportive energies in the year, month, day and hour can increase your opportunities for success.
