Feng Shui and the Pantone Color of the year for 2020
The Pantone Color of the Year 2020 is called Classic Blue. The code is: 19-4052 Classic Blue
It is a familiar, calming shade of azure.
From a Feng Shui perspective, this is a great selection. The Year of the Metal Rat looks like a white, male Rat. The Rat branch itself has the image of a vast ocean of water. In the Five Elements Cycle, metal produces water. Although this is considered a harmonious relationship, it also means that the Water is very strong and unpredictable. Another consideration about the Five Elements Cycle is that Water controls the Fire element. The Fire element is basically non-existent this year. From an emotional perspective, Fire brings joy, optimism, and passion. Water is more fear and sadness. This structure looks like a perfect formula for uncertainty.
I applaud Pantone for selecting Classic Blue for 2020. Of course, the color is inspired by the sea. It is such a recognizable, reliable color. It presents a foil to the uncertainty the future holds. When we look at the world around us, we know that we are living with a lot of unrest worldwide. Security can feel elusive. Blue, from an emotional, psychological standpoint, has always represented a certain amount of calm and dependability. It is a color that you can rely on.
Blues will take center stage as we move away from the grey palate. In order to create more balance, it will be helpful to add earthy browns and sand-inspired neutrals to create stability. Be sure to add pops of reds to add warmth. Whites and greens will also play an important role.
Freshen the look and feel of your home with a few small updates to align with the feel of this year’s energy. Happy decorating!
