When you don’t sleep well or enough, it is difficult to stay focused, healthy, and successful. There are spirited debates about how much sleep a person needs. Recent research promotes the quality and timing of sleep based on an individual’s specific body requirements.

When a client tells me that they are having trouble sleeping, I can assess how much the environment is influencing them after asking a whole lot of questions, and then zero in on specific things to try that address the actual cause of sleeplessness.

Feng shui bedroom tips are not hard to find. In my opinion, when sleep or lack thereof is the concern, everyone has a unique trigger that keeps them up at night. So my approach to helping people have better sleep is both holistic and specific.

There is a long list of Feng Shui ‘No-Nos’ that apply to the bedroom. Some of these you can do on your own. But when you aren’t sleeping, it is hard to know what the right thing to do is and if it will work. When you are feeling desperate for some relief, it is hard to know where to turn.

Is your bedroom a place of respite? Are you working in your bedroom or is there just too much stuff there?

I like to suggest that people make their bedroom look like one at a luxury hotel. You spend 1/3 of your time there. This is one of the places to make it extra special.

Another important factor is that the bedroom alone may not be the only thing that needs to be remedied. In my experience, it is never just one thing. If this is a concern for you, bring it up early in your consultation. It should be part of the initial conversations so that we can pull together all the resources to help you!

    1. Hi Pat, Great question! Even with good Feng Shui supporting a person, there may be times when a person has so much on their mind they find it difficult to ‘turn off’ their thinking. In my opinion, there is a long list of factors that should be checked/reviewed. And there is a time that it should be addressed. However, in the middle of the night when it feels like your brain is never going to stop, one of the simplest things to do is to think about anything else. That is if you are thinking about work, and health issues, and then relationship issues start to creep in, it can feel like everything is snowballing and getting bigger. There is momentum to all the worry and overwhelm a person may be feeling. In those moments, it can be helpful to write it all down on paper. Another suggestion is to focus on thinking about good stuff – anything that makes you happy. Puppies! Kittens! Beaches! Whatever it is for you. Sometimes, I will just focus on gratitude. Tucked into my bed and think to my self: I love my bed. I love my pillow. I love the way it supports my head. I love my cozy blanket. I love how quiet it is here. I love the feeling of the air coming in and out of my lungs. I love having my warm kitties curled up next to me. I love my eye-mask. I love the feeling of all the abundance in my life. I love the feeling of ease and flow. I love the feeling of well-being. I love knowing that I’m doing really well. and so on and so on…eventually, my mind just shuts down and sleep takes over. Give it a try and let me know how it goes…And, of course, there are some Feng Shui remedies that can also help. With Feng Shui, if you have solutions to problems, then the mind is able to rest on its own because it isn’t spending time trying to resolve everything. I hope that helps.
